ব্যোমকেশ বক্সীর গল্প – সত্যের সন্ধানে – শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

গোয়েন্দা গল্প বলতে এতদিন এই ব্লগে ফেলুদার অভিযানগুলোকেই বুঝিয়েছি। তবে বাংলা সাহিত্যে ফেলুদা ছাড়াও বেশ কয়েকজন স্মরণীয় গোয়েন্দা চরিত্র আছেন, যাদের কথা এতদিন বলা হয়নি। শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সৃষ্টি ব্যোমকেশ বক্সী তাদেরই একজন, যার আবির্ভাব হয় ১৯২৫ সালে (১৩৩১ বঙ্গাব্দ)। ৪ দশক পরে আসা উত্তরসুরী ফেলুদার মতন ব্যোমকেশও একজন তরুণ শখের গোয়েন্দা, যদিও নিজেকে তিনি গোয়েন্দার বদলে ‘সত্যান্বেষী’ (সত্যের অন্বেষণ/সন্ধানকারী) বলেই পরিচয় দেন। ব্যোমকেশের গল্পগুলো ফেলুদারগুলোর চাইতে ছোট আর কম গভীর হতে পারে, কিন্তু সেগুলোতে ক্ষুরধার মস্তিস্ক, অভিনবত্ব আর আধুনিকতার অভাব নেই। তাই আত্মপ্রকাশের পর ৯০ বছর কেটে গেলেও ব্যোমকেশ আজও সেই প্রখর বুদ্ধিদীপ্ত তরুণ, যার প্রাসঙ্গিকতা এখনো আগের মতোই অটুট। বাংলা গোয়েন্দা সাহিত্যে বোমকেশ একটি স্মরণীয় চরিত্র, তাই আজ তার পরিচয়স্বরূপ তাকে নিয়ে শরদিন্দু বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের লেখা প্রথম গল্প – সত্যের সন্ধানে।

Byomkesh Bakshi, a character penned by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay, has been a memorable character in Bangla detective fiction. First appearing in 1925 (1331 Bangabda), he predates the more well-known Feluda by four decades. Yet his sharpness and intellect, and the relevance of his stories in the modern context make them as appealing as ever to today’s readers. Shorter than those of Feluda’s, Byomkesh’s stories are a perfect light read for the lazy afternoons and quiet nights.
