A longtime public servant, Tim Toomey was first elected to office in 1985. He spent the last 23 years serving concurrently as the State Representative for the 26th Middlesex District and as a City Councilor in Cambridge. He carries with him a long record of support for LGBTQ rights, including being a co-sponsor of the first Massachusetts transgender equal rights bill and a long-standing supporter of marriage equality. He has also worked on legislation supporting immigrants, expanding transportation, protecting the environment and fighting the opioid crisis, as well as gun control, health care reform, affordable public housing, equal pay for women, and criminal justice reform that addresses disproportional impacts on people of color and poor people. With the work he’s done in his long standing career, MassEquality PAC is thrilled to endorse Tim Toomey in the upcoming election.
