Today I am super excited to be hosting Aussie Author Juliet Madison on the blog as part of her Haunted Ever After Tour. I’m even more excited that she agreed to stop on by and chat books with me.

Juliet Madison

Juliet is perhaps one of my favourite Rom-Com authors. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed her past novels, but having seen everything she posted about Haunted Ever After on facebook, I could not wait to read this one ( I highly recommend it if your a fan of goof laugh and great writing.) Below is a photo from the recent RWA Romance Rocks conference in Sydney where I got to meet Juliet at the ARRA book signing 🙂

To celebrate the release of Haunted Ever After, Juliet is holding a rafflecopter giveaway where you can win a bracelet and one of her e-books. Details are at the end of this post.

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading an (as yet) unpublished manuscript by one of my critique partners and enjoying it very much. I’m also reading Vintage by Susan Gloss and a book about vintage handbags as research for my next novel! Next up – Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty.

What’s the last book you brought?

My critique partner, Alli Sinclair’s debut novel, LUNA TANGO!

Do you prefer to read books in print or electronically?

I like them both equally. I do love a print book but I find reading on my Kindle convenient and faster because I can turn the page with a quick click.

If I was to walk into your house right now, what would your bookshelves look like? Do you have an organisation system (genre, colour, author…) or are you just happy to go with the flow?

My bookshelves are the only tidy things in my house! But they are overflowing somewhat. I try to keep the books I’ve read separate to the ones yet to be read, but there’s a bit of overlap. No alphabetical or colour coded systems, just whatever fits where!

How often do you read?

Every night before bed. I’m trying to squeeze in some reading when I can at other times during the day too.

What characteristics/traits would make up your dream book?

It would have characters that feel like real people who I can empathize with and want to experience their emotional journey with. It would have some unpredictable twists and turns, lots of laugh-out-loud moments, and genuine, intense emotional moments.

How do you choose what to read next?

Sometimes it’s a conscious choice based on what I need to research for my own writing, but usually it’s what I feel like at the time. Sometimes I feel like something light and funny, other times I want something edgier with suspense.

So you’ve started a book and discover it’s not for you. Are you more likely to discard it or finish it?

Depends if it’s something I’ve heard great things about or not. If I’m bored I might skim through to the end to see how it turns out, or put it aside and move onto something else and maybe return to it later.

If you could read any book again, for the first time, what book would you choose?

My own! Although it’s not possible, I think it would be amazing to read a book I’ve written without knowing what it’s about – crazy huh? But that would require either severe memory loss or time travelling to the future and we all know how that turned out for Kelli McSnelly (in Fast Forward) 😉

What is about books that makes you want to read? What is your favourite part about reading?

I read somewhere that good books can ‘transport you and transform you’ and that’s what I love about reading. You can experience anything through books and the power of the mind as it immerses itself into a story. A quote I came up with is this: “Fiction is both a reflection of and an escape from real life.”

Juliet’s new release is HAUNTED EVER AFTER:

Mixing romance, humour and a sparkle of magic, Juliet Madison is back with a new full-length novel about a bride-to-be, a mystery and the stripper next door.

When bride-to-be Sally Marsh attends a weekend away with her bridesmaids, the last thing she expects is an uninvited guest: the ghost of her fiancé’s ex-girlfriend.

Red is quirky, loud and distracting, and Sally is soon desperate to find the reason behind her presence, so she can rid herself of her embarrassing shadow before the wedding day. Unfortunately, the ghost is reluctant to share the reason for her existence, but very enthusiastic about Ty, the surprise hen’s night stripper who keeps showing up at awkward moments.

Time is running out for Sally, but it’s also running out for Red. By the time all is revealed, Sally will be tested to the limits, and go above and beyond everything she’s ever believed in order to ensure not only her own happy-ever-after – but Red’s as well.
