Sh*t My Dad Says. Justin Halperin.

Halperin, Justin. Sh*t My Dad Says. !t Books (Harper Collins) New York. F; 1/11.

A friend gave me this, saying it was terribly funny. It’s very short, and yes, it’s in the comedy genre. But it ends up pulling on easy Chicken Soup for the Soul heartstrings. The crusty old dad really loves Justin after all and is proud of him for finally becoming a successful writer. Way to go Justin. With the offhand tone and no detail it didn’t amount to your tortured-road-to-literary-success story I’m afraid. Talks openly about masturbation, which is so far almost unique in my experience. Overall, lightweight. 5.8
