(adapted from Cuisinart)

1 cup whole milk, well chilled
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 cups heavy whipping cream, well chilled
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

In a large bowl whisk the milk and sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Then stir in the heavy cream and vanilla. Pour mixture into the bowl of your electric ice cream machine, turn machine on and let mix until thickened, according to the instructions of your machine, for my Cuisinart Automatic Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker it usually takes about 25 minutes.

You can eat the ice cream at this point, or if you want it a bit more firm, scoop into a freezer safe container with a lid and freeze for approximately 1-2 hours. Makes about 10 half cup servings.

What’s not to love about the fresh, simple flavor of homemade Vanilla Ice Cream? Absolutely nothing. This basic ice cream is a staple in my home and I hope it will be in yours too!

  3. I used to shun vanilla ice cream as a kid (my preference was always chocolate) but I’ve totally come to appreciate vanilla now that I’m a sophisticated adult with an impeccable palate 😉 This looks so creamy!
