Lori Fiebelkorn, Director of First Impressions

Birthplace: Cedar Rapids

City of Residence: Sherrill, Iowa

How long have you worked at the Chamber/CVB: 2 years

Description of your job: Answering phones, greeting visitors, sending out area information, recording incoming money, researching information that people have requested. I assist with events and offer support to the staff whenever it is needed. I track the YP members. I send out congratulatory cards to chamber members who have recently been promoted or received recognition in the community. I send out, sort and distribute the mail. I manage the calendar of events on our web site for the chamber and CVB.

What I like best about working for the Chamber/CVB: It is “happy” work. I love the diversity of every day. It is never boring and I like helping folks who either call or stop in, to find what they are looking for. I like supporting the chamber members and the community in any way I can.

What’s a typical day like (for you) at the Chamber/CVB: I answer phone calls, greet visitors, support staff, check the calendar of events that are awaiting approval, sort the mail, record incoming funds, monitor office supplies.

Why you think businesses belong at the Chamber/CVB: Because it is a respected entity in the business community and there are so many ways the chamber/cvb can help people and companies to grow their business if they take advantage of all we have to offer (which is something for everyone) whether it’s a large corporation or a 1 person company. All of our members are equally important because all businesses started out small and needed help. For the membership dues that are paid, I feel that the members are getting a lot for their investment in relation to networking, marketing and the programming the chamber/cvb offer.  Any money that businesses are spending on dues is important and it is our job to see that we use the money they have entrusted to the chamber/cvb wisely in ways that will benefit their business.

Motto or Personal Mantra: Be nice

I’m happiest when: I am busy

Favorite pastimes: spending time with my husband, sons, our families, friends and our dog

People would be surprised to know: I met my husband on a blind date and got married two weeks later in 1983.

Favorite song, movie, book or comedian: Usher, Coneheads & Ellen DeGeneres

What I am reading right now: Magazines, News and Business news

If I won the lottery I would: Buy a house on the beach for my husband and I and each of our kids and give lots of money to the K9’s for Veterans and Wounded Warrior programs and the local Humane Shelter.
