Share Your world (Week #21)

I have been reading this challenge by Cee for quite some time, and today I decided to take the plunge and take part in it, so without further ado–I will try to answer her questions/contribute to the list as best I can.  Take pity on this newbie to the challenge…:-)

  • Favorite Songs:

1.   A newly found song for me “Because I’m Happy”.  Guess it was in the movie Despicable Me, but I just heard it the other night and it made me feel happy.  Something I haven’t felt for quite some time.  It has become my new go-to-song when I need a pick me up.

2.  Amazing Grace.  This song usually brings peace to my heart.

3.   I’ll See You Again.  (I play this song at least once when I visit my husband’s grave)

4.   Buck’s Polka.  This was my husband’s signature song when he played music in his band many years ago, and I loved to hear him play it.

  • Favorite Flowers or Plants:

1,   Lilies  (Here’s a picture of one of the lilies from my garden last year.  They are just starting to develop buds–I can’t wait!

2.   Roses.

3.   Iris

4.   Wild flowers found growing along the road.  They may be weeds for all I know, but they are still very pretty.

  • Games to play with friends.

1.   Candy Crush Saga

2.   Cookie Jam

3.   Words With Friends (I suck)

4.   Trivia Crack (I double suck at that one!)

  • Fun (?) things for a rainy day.

1,  Read a good book

2.  Play the above games 🙂

3.  Cuddle with my dog and cat

4.  Cuddling with my dog and cat usually ends up with taking a nap!

And now–the Bonus question:

What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I’m grateful that I survived another week.  After my husband died, each day has been a milestone for me to be able to just say “I made it”.  As to what I’m looking forward to in the coming week— I DON’T HAVE TO GO TO WORK ALL WEEK!!  I took some time off to stay at home and have some “me” time and get some of the cleaning up and disposing of stuff done.  It will however probably be spent more on “me time” than cleaning!

Thanks for allowing me to participate in this challenge this week.

  1. Despicable Me has a great soundtrack. I guess the songs were from “my” era. Amazing Grace is always a winner. My lilies are just opening this week. I like the color of yours. I’m sorry to see you lost your husband recently. I can’t imagine…sending hugs.

    1. Thank you. My lilies haven’t started to bud yet, that picture was deceiving since it was from last year. My roses are starting to bud and if the bugs don’t eat them they should be opening soon. I just love this time of year, late spring…early summer.
Thank you for stopping by and commenting.

      1. I thought maybe your lilies were on the same schedule as mine. Now you can enjoy them twice (or more). I liked to see rhododendron on blogs from the north of us–when our blooms had faded. It was all new again!

  2. Oh my goodness I have missed so much. I think I’ve caught up with all your posts I missed. I can clearly remember my mum, a very strong woman, telling me that the second year after dad died was so much harder than the first. And then she slowly got through it. I hope you can hang in there.
Enjoy your week off, a week without pressure can only be a good thing.
Mind yourself, you are doing fine and your pain and sadness is normal.
My only comment would be, that in time, maybe next year when you feel a little better you might join a writing group or a photography group and make new friends. ‘If you change nothing, nothing changes’.
Be good to your self, and mind that truck of yours!

    1. Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. I live in a small, one-horse town that basically offers NOTHING to do! The closest possibility would be a 45 minute drive and after working 8-9 hours a day, I’m too tired to do that. Occasionally there will be a class offered (like the photography class I took last fall) that interest me.
I hope to make some changes and get out more and perhaps take a look at the one horse we have in town! 🙂 Perhaps with the truck!
Thanks, Tric! You always make me smile!

      1. Ah the one horse town, what a picture that paints for me. My suggestions are not meant as a push, just a gently nudge and certainly not soon, but sometime. There is always the internet, you know you can meet lovely people on it!! 🙂 Anyway I’m delighted that for now, this moment in time you are okay. That is great news.

  3. I’m really glad you took time off. You need that me time and you need to lessen your stress. Yay for you! By the way, where would I find Cee’s challenge? It sounds interesting.

    1. I tried to link to it. Obviously it didn’t work. She has some great challenges I like to read and have just never had the guts to go outside my comfort zone!

  4. I’m glad that you are taking some ‘me’ time… spend some outside.. hopefully the weather will cooperate… Lilies are my husband’s favourite; I love all but partial to Daisies and Lavender and of course Roses… (I started playing ‘Puzzly Words’ on FB… It is challenging though sometimes but I like word games….
