Geeks’ Picks for New Comics: October 29th, 2014

outright-geekery Logo NewNew Comics Wednesday is upon us again, and some of us here at Outright Geekery are running down the top pick on our comic stacks for this week. What are you looking forward to reading this week?

Taylor: Wonder Woman #35

Ever since DC’S relaunch, this book has been telling a slow, deliberate story with tons of build up. It has been slow at times, but read as a whole, it’s been quite the expansive tale and it’s all led up to this moment. With the final battle with the First Born upon us, we’ve reached a climax years in the making, and I’m curious to see how it ends.

David: Critical Hit #2

Last month, I picked up issue #1 of Critical Hit after Gaumer recommended it. Now, I’m going to have to pick up a Liberators trade sometime soon. The girls are in deep after their attempt to scare of a group of hunters takes a turn for the worst. What is going to happen to Sarah and Jeanette? Will they escape their captors? Is that banjos playing off in the distant? Can’t wait to get my hands on issue #2 and find out.

Critical Hit #2CRITICAL HIT #2

Release Date: October 29, 2014
Jeanette and Sarah find themselves in a terrifying and brutally violent situation when they’re taken captive by a rogue gang of killers whom the girls mistook for mere sport hunters. Matt Miner pushes his young vigilantes deeper into the heart of darkness and raises the stakes as one of the girls fights for her life.

Gaumer: Rasputin #1

While it’s hit or miss for any issue #1, Image has been hitting most of them out fo the park. So, with the releases of yet another brand new title, Rasputin, from the publisher, you can bet I’m getting on the bandwagon before it even starts rolling. I’m hoping for a solid story, but Rossmo’s artwork alone is worth the price of admission.

DRACULA AT DOWNTON ABBEY!
In one night Rasputin was poisoned, beaten, stabbed, shot in the head, drowned, then tied up and thrown in a frozen river. It was really bad timing. His beard was just coming in nicely.
New York Times bestselling author ALEX GRECIAN and fan favorite artist RILEY ROSSMO reunite for the first time since their critically acclaimed series PROOF!

Jules: Saga #24

Month after month Saga has been top of my list as far as what’s been coming out of Image. Most Image book lately have been coming out of the gates hot and seem to simmer down as their creators get sweet big time jobs. Thankfully Brian K. Vaughn has been there done that and has been pouring pure gold into this title. Fiona Staples has brought a wonderful illustrious world before my eyes each issue and I just marvel the amazing story these two have create. Its taken a ton of twists and turns. The last issue blew my mind and I can’t wait to see what’s next for this dysfunctional family.

Adam: Deathlok #1

Out of all the Avengers Now titles, Deathlok is the biggest toss up for me. Edmondson’s recent work on Punisher and Black Widow has been surprisingly great, though, so I’m excited to check this title out.
