Some days during the holidays I painted from my imagination. I brought a limited set of art supplies on holiday, several sketchbooks, both larger and smaller, watercolors, some neocolor II crayons (watersoluble) and oil crayons. Quite a few pencils and pens and brushes. I may show you my kit some other day. Most of it fits in a neat bag.
One day I just played with the watercolor and made textured pages by adding salt into the wet paint. On this one I used vibrant colors. I may add a drawing later. (I thought I saw a kind of dragon in it, but decided to leave it in this state.) I also did one more muted one.
August 8 I painted this piece.
I was quite happy about it. I tried to make more similar pieces the next days. I found I couldn’t just go for a copy and made a similar painting, but felt I had to make changes, like adding other media. I brought some oil crayons and added them here. Something to try again – I do like the combination of watercolor and oil crayon.
The third time I tried something similar as the first time, but thought more about the colors. I was too busy thinking about how yellow and purple would work together. I had to layer a lot to get it to be colorful enough. Somehow this isn’t as fresh as the first piece.
These were done on August (5 or) 6, 8, 9, (10 or) 11.
I’m not completely certain about the dates I put in sometimes (this third one I may have been mistaken). I didn’t always date them straight away. Well it was a holiday…
…. and I did my daily work (and more!); that’s for sure. You’ll have to take my word. 🙂
Anyway. Today is August 20th, the 354th day of my YODC (year of daily creating). Only 12 days to go to September the 1st (11 days of painting and drawing)!
