I have 6 lovely star points, which need to be finished as a star, of course. Its UFO status means I don’t remember how large it is, perhaps 30″ across. One thing that stopped me was lack of ideas on how to finish it as a quilt. Here are the points, not yet sewn together.
I’ve long wanted to make log cabin blocks in the same pinks and browns. However, making a quilt from them could be an exercise in tedium.
Combining the star and the log cabins? I was visiting with a fellow Stashbuster and blog follower, Barbara Arnelian, when this idea came up. This is an idea to solve both problems! Thanks, Barbara!
I love the lay out. I’m working on a bizillion log cabin blocks now (and forever?) This could be really fun!! Thanks. doni @ Oregon coast – and in Stashbusters of course!!
Thanks for taking a look, Doni! Good luck with the gazillion bizillion LC blocks. I haven’t started mine yet. Maybe next year… 🙂
Wow, I can see this in a variety of color ways. Really impressive. I have never tried the star but have always liked them and this would be a great way to do it.
Yes, it could go a lot of different ways, couldn’t it? Blues and greens, patriotic, golds and browns… How would you make it?
How is Central America? Seems like you just left… a LONG time ago!
Well your idea is MUCh grander than mine!!spent half of my night “thinking” on this..my log cabin is very trad. with 4 small sters in the middle..now I was following a pattern in a recent mag..except there were some major problems with the layout..fixed that..now I’m at the border..and this will be all my own idea..more stars for sure..Thanks for giving me a nice word..love your very “over the top” plan..and the colours are delicious.
I love traditional log cabins, and adding stars anywhere fancies them up. “more stars for sure”!! Good! I’ll look forward to seeing it.
Now that is going to be one fabulous quilt!
It’s a good one for someday. Maybe later next year… I already have stuff lined up through May. ACK!!
Two heads are better than one, as they say. Your diagram is awesome. This will make an absolutely gorgeous quilt!
Thanks, Nancie! Not sure when this will happen, but at least now I can imagine it.
seems like more of a plan than an idea…..i LOVE that quilt combining the log cabins and the star…..a VERY beautiful plan….
Thanks. They do seem natural together. 🙂
You have good ideas. It might hatch a plan. I will be watching.
And I’m always glad you’re willing to hear them, and consult for me! We do good work together!
Beautiful idea! I love it. 😀
Thanks! I actually was visiting with Barbara Arnelian. I believe she’s the one who suggested combining … I’ll add that to my post.
THANKS!
