26/08/2014 (Tuesday)

IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus under the patronage of NIYOJAN (Corporate Connect Cell) ensures constant students’ interaction with best professionals & leaders in their respective field.

For this, college organizes industrial visits, which provides an opportunity to the students to have first hand practical exposure and helps to relate the conceptual and analytical skills acquired in the classroom to actual management practices wherein students make a group-visit to organization. Industry visits provides an excellent opportunity for the students to understand the complexities faced by the organizations in various stages. The motive is to provide the students with a right blend of theoretical learning and an opportunity to witness how those concepts are utilized in practicality.

No student today is untouched with the flavors of soft drink. But few might have witnessed the process of its manufacturing. Hence the students were about to witness one of the largest manufacturing lines of Pepsi bottling plant. The Industrial Visit to Varun Beverages Ltd. (Pepsi Co.), Greater Noida was organized on 26th Aug 2014 for BBA Final Year students. Ms. Shivani Dixit, Faculty International Business and Mr. Tushar Jindal, Faculty Marketing accompanied the students. The visit started by a small presentation by HR Manager, Varun Beverages. He helped students to know about the processes and functioning of various departments in an organization. The students were taken through the entire bottling process from the first stage of syrup making to blowing of the bottle till the last stage viz. packaging & storage. They have various production lines related to CSD (Carbonated Soft Drinks), PET Bottle, Non-carbonated drinks like juices and others. During the visit, face-to-face discussions take place with senior executives. Students get an opportunity to interact around critical strategic and operational issues that corporate manager’s face in managing corporate actions. It was a great learning for the students to know that soft drink bottle or any SKU (stock keeping unit) goes through different stages of tests, which makes every bottle or tetra pack unit a world class product.

Students could clearly link theory concepts with practical knowledge, e.g. concept of work, assembly-line, system of mass production & mass consumption, team working, total quality management (TQM), Just in Time production system (JIT), First in First out (FIFO) stock valuation method. The outcome of the visit was great learning visit for students and the day filled with knowledge and fun.
