Production week is finally here! The past eight weeks have flown by in a flurry of hard work. There have been illnesses, several late nights for the crew, trips to Leeds and some ‘mmm-ooing’ (in vocal warm ups), but we have made it through. There are three days to go until opening night and I am extremely proud of all of my cast and crew for the effort they have been putting into our production, despite the knock backs.

Last Saturday was the actors first day back in the Scenic Stage Theatre, after Ronan, Ben and Harriet had their week in there to implement set and lighting . The space is transformed. Ronan’s and Ben’s respective designs compliment the script and help transport the audience back into the 18th Century. We were lucky enough to have a technical run with lighting, ahead of schedule too. It was a long gruelling day, with the bright sunshine outside taunting us but it was necessary for the good of the play!

The journey to staging Miss in Her Teens has been fantastic. Admittedly, I was concerned quite how we could do justice to Garrick’s script and bring all of his characters to life, but I think we may have just done it! Every single actor has progressed over the term and developed fully fledged characters. However, there is still some work to be done on furthering character development to make individual qualities and intentions absolutely clear to an audience. I have set a high bar for my cast, which at times has been/is difficult to achieve, but I have faith they will get there and amaze everyone on opening night.

Standby for more updates!
