Bio: Robb Hart is a Director and VFX wizard from London, who now lives and runs a VFX company in California. In his 34 year career Robb has filmed with tribes in the Amazon, been to the North Pole, smuggled money and film into Argentina during the Falklands war, set up MTV Europe, directed ‘A’ list movie stars, he has made everything from TV shows, to video games and commercials. The son of a photographer, Robb was first exposed to the world of film when as a young boy he saw the title sequence to the James Bond film ‘Goldfinger’ being shot in his Dad’s studio. His studio, is run very much on Art School lines, one day Robb is the Director, another day he is the Colorist, then on another he the Flame artist. Beyond his work with moving pictures, Robb is a photographer and attends regular life drawing classes.

Statement: My early influences were the photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Diane Arbus and the filmmakers Frederick Wiseman and Stanley Kubrick. The way in which light reveals the texture and form of an object has always fascinated me. As a filmmaker, to be able to add the dimensions of sound and time to this relationship has grown into a lifelong passion. No single element really exists in any predetermined measure; the crossroads between perception and emotion create the most exciting canvas I could imagine working on. Storytelling is central to any film, yet as I learned from watching 2001, stories do not have to abide by traditional structures. Documentaries taught me to observe first and create the edit based on what was, not what I thought would be. In creating a sequences from my imagination, I strive to leave room to be amazed by the beauty of what I find.
