I love a good ol thrifted project! Finding something old and neglected and turning it into something pretty for my home is one of my favorite things to do! This month, when I was thrift shopping for the monthly Thrift Store Decor Makeover Challenge, I found an old neglected large glass vase. I knew right away that I wanted to put a candle in it, but wasn't sure what else I wanted to do with it until I got it home.
Here is my glass vase that I purchased at Goodwill for $1.50. I decided to wrap some rope around it and give it a nautical look. I used the same rope for last month's Wine Crate Turned Serving Tray project, so I spent no extra money on this project...I just shopped my home!
I started at the bottom, hot gluing the rope in place then wrapping it around the vase upward. I hot glued about every four inches just to keep it all from moving.
I hot glued it at the end at the back to secure it.
To finish it off, I added some sand, a candle and at the last minute, hot glued a galvanized K that was actually a Christmas ornament on the front. I love the look, and am so excited to finally have a centerpiece for my breakfast nook table! Isn't it super cute? You can find so many glass containers at thrift stores and also at most stores now. I've seen inexpensive ones at Target, Meijer, Walmart and even the Dollar Store too!
