The Big Number Today is 23
Woman in the Middle | March 18, 2015Today is the anniversary of the day we completed our family. Twenty three years ago Youngest Daughter was born. We felt like seasoned parents by the time she came along. We weren’t so afraid we would break her. We had some clue as to what we needed to do. The transition from one child to two was pretty seamless. Just a few days after Youngest was born, Hubby and I looked at each other and said, “It is like she has been with us always.”
The four of us in our little family like a good laugh. We are always making dry little comments and jokes to each other. But I think Youngest is the funniest. She says so many things on her Facebook page or when she texts us that make me laugh out loud. This was posted on Facebook the other day -
“My roommate Melissa just brought me a piece of garlic bread and a s’more made with a Reese’s cup. When my child asks why I named them Melissa Jr. I shall tell them of this fateful night…”
Youngest has just one more quarter to go and she will be done with college and ready to take on the world. That will include getting a job and finding her own place to live…and I am very happy about that. After all, isn’t that what parenting is all about, helping them find their wings and fly? And I have always wanted a guest room! But I am also very sad, too. My baby is growing up and I have to let her go. Parenthood can be bittersweet sometimes.
Back when she was three, she didn’t mind Big Sis taking her for a ride. Now I think she prefers to drive!
Happy Birthday, Sweetie!
Oh yeah after our first child we have a bit more confidence that we know what we are doing our babies grow up so fast, hope your youngest had a great birthday
The number 23 is fateful for me too because that was how old I was when I graduated from college and then got married a week later.
