Beer Wednesday – Gordon Biersch Marzen

Happy Beer Wednesday!

Just a few days ago, the Blonde and I had an hour our so of an evening to kill, so we stopped at a Gordon Biersch brew pub for drinks.

They had a number of beers, and according to my Vgan app, which pulls from Barnivore.com, all of then are vegan beers. Reading through their descriptions, I asked on the marzen over a number of other options.

Gordon Biersch, marzen, german beer, brew pub, beer restaurant, brewery,

The marzen was pretty good. Our was smooth, with light hops and very little bitterness. The mouthfeel was a little thin, but it lasted long enough without clinging and finished very cleanly, in part because of the light, almost champagne-like carbonation.

A really nice surprise was the finish. They was a really nice, almost melon taste on the finish that elevated the beer.

For my first visit to Gordon Biersch, I was really happy with the beer I had. Happy enough to go back again, but I’m not sure I was happy enough to go buy their beer on a special trip.

On my six-pack scale, I’m happy happy to give this marzen a 4/6.
