Local Cub Scout packs gather food for those in need

Local Cub Scout packs were out in force Saturday as part of a national campaign to gather food donations to fill local food pantries in their communities. The young men were stationed at area Tops Markets asking shoppers to consider buying food items to help the less fortunate. The cub scouts were very professional and factual in their presentations to shoppers. It’s no wonder the community was very responsive in helping the boys reach their goals.

Young men from Cub Scout Pack 841 could be seen at Tops International Market on Niagara Falls Blvd. In the City of Niagara Falls. St. John de LaSalle Parish was the recipient of the donations gathered by the pack.

As the Cub Master of Pack 841, it’s a joy when my boys come out and participate in the community service parts of scouting. Too many parents feel they are to busy to put in even an hour. I know the local baseball league was having tryouts and yet my son was able to put in a few hours before his tryouts and a few hours after. It was totally his choice. Our cub scout promise, states, “to help other people.” I had one senior citizen hand me 4 bags full of groceries, she made the statement, “you never know, you could be on the receiving end at anytime.” Which is entirely true!
