Immunization Reminders: Exclusion Date and Back to School Clinics

Now is the time to make sure your children are up-to-date on their immunizations.  State law requires all children to be fully immunized to attend school and to participate in co-curricular activities.

All students entering the Natrona County School District must have proper records of immunization. Wyoming State Law (21-4-309) requires that all kindergarten students have the following immunizations by 30 days after the start of school in the fall:

The Exclusion Deadline is October 2nd!

* 4/5 DTP doses

*3/4 Polio doses

* 2 MMR doses

* 3 Hepatitis B doses

* 2 varicella (chickenpox) or verification of disease.

Students starting seventh grade also must have a Tdap vaccine.

All students must provide proof that they are fully immunized before Oct. 2nd, 2015. Students who do not have an updated immunization record on file at their schools will not be allowed to attend school nor will they be allowed to participate in co-curricular activities.

To help families reach compliance, the Casper Natrona County Health Department will hold Back-to-School vaccination clinics on:

  • Sept. 10th, 15th, 24th and 29th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
  • October 1st from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • October 2nd from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Exclusion Day

The Back-to-School vaccination clinics are for school-aged children, ages 5 – 18 years. These are walk-in clinics and no appointment is needed. Vaccinations available are: DTaP, Polio, MMR, Chickenpox, TDaP, Hepatitis B. The cost is $17 per immunization. A parent or guardian must be present and please bring the child’s vaccination record.

Casper Natrona County Health Department is located at 475 South Spruce Street, Casper.

All new students and incoming kindergartners also must have record of the required vaccines for their age group, and incoming seventh-graders must have proof of a Tdap vaccine. These shots can be provided by your regular health care provider or by the Casper-Natrona County Health Department.

If you have questions, please contact Wendy Wilson, Nursing Coordinator, NCSD, (307) 253-3169 or your school nurse.
