the pursuit of home, part 1

In an introduction to the classic, Anne of Green Gables, Jack Zipes writes this:

“Of course, the personage of Anne, the fictional Anne-girl, is more than anyone can imagine.  Depending on who reads or has read Anne of Green Gables, she is a saint, sister, daughter or celebrity.  Montgomery has touched our imaginations with her creation of Anne, just as Anne touches everyone with whom she comes into contact in the idyllic community of Avonlea.  Once touched, we shall keep on reaching out to her because she keeps alive something that we sorely need if we are to move forward in the pursuit of home.”

The pursuit of home.

What is that?

How do we move forward in it?

What did it mean for Anne of Green Gables?

What does it mean for you?

This week we’ll be looking at what it means to pursue home — how we do it, how we shouldn’t be doing it, and how we sometimes muddle in between.  This is Day 7 in the series, ‘Defining Home in 31 Days.’ Tune in tomorrow for the continuation.
