So other than books … what periodicals do you read? Magazines? Newspapers? Newsletters? Journals?
Do you subscribe? Or do you buy them on the newsstand when they look interesting?
Magazines and periodicals seem to be relics from the past. I no longer read them on a regular since my last subscription of The Economist terminated. A stash of magazines piled up in the corner of the living room, most of which partly read and some completely unread—that was why I decided to terminate the subscription. That said, several magazines are still within the fringes of my mind, that I would browse every once in a while. They are Details, Esquire, Men’s Health, and other men/fashion magazines. I have no desire to subscribe because these magazines often recycle or repackage their old ideas. Honestly, how many styles of khaki pants or plaids can you have? How many chest workout can you have? It’s all about selling the idea in a manner that appeals to the consumers at the right time. I would buy them on the newsstand if they look super interesting. One magazine that I won’t mind buying is the local 7×7 San Francisco because every issue features a neighborhood and its shops, restaurants, as well as local culture. The only periodical I swear by now, which I peruse scrupulously, if not in entirety, is The Wall Street Journal.

A Guy's Moleskine Notebook 
I used to subscribe to a lot of magazines and no longer do. I still buy magazines before traveling as I like to read them on the plane and I do read the NY Times every day on my Nook. I like the 7×7 magazine too and somehow have been receiving it for free for the last year? I’m not sure how that happened but it keeps coming in my name to my PO Box!
I used to subscribe to The Economist, too. I miss it but I read it at the gym sometimes. Also used to get The New Yorker and Bitch. I need to resubscribe to those at least.
I really only read two magazines, and subscribe to both.
Free Inquiry and Harper’s. And I enjoy them in that order. Free Inquiry is an amazingly good magazine about atheism, and is a sort of secular critique of religion in general. Never a boring or irrelevant article in it!
