BRIDGET WHELAN writer

for writers and readers….

Monday creative writing exercise because it’s a good way to start the week. And here’s a story starter…

creative writing exercise

This week it’s a very short exercise but a goody! Don’t ask why it’s so short and late…Oh, go on, do.
My new shiny BIG pc is doing everything brilliantly and I was thrilled last night when I discovered I could transfer files via blue tooth. The internet connection has always been a it wobbly though, frequently clicking out. Now the connection is fine. I can see the five bar left handed triangle twinkling at me, but it just won’t connect with anything: not Google (address wrong? it asks in all innocence), my blog (address wrong?) my email (address wrong), the BBC (address definitely wrong), but my old Apple workhorse is chuntering along…so I’m still able to post an exercise.

Write from the point of view of an unopened letter

That’s it. Dive in.
(The alternative is: write from the point of view of a shiny new PC that is in danger of being slung across the room if it wasn’t so big.)

If you enjoy this exercise there’s a good chance you’ll like my ebook Back to CREATIVE WRITING School 30 exercises, 33,000 words, available now in paperback and as an ebook.

I call mine Arkwright, after the cash-register in Ronnie Barker’s shop, which seems to have a similar disposition to my PC. Good Luck.

Love it! Mine seems to have settled down – I won’t repeat the names I was calling it last week.
