state of play

This week Burgess fell under the sword of a tenacious Knockshe team in round three of the junior A north championship.

The final score of 1:17 to 0:13 told a lopsided tale of the game. Yes Knockshe deserved their win yet the score board flattered them, and they knew it.We were a little flat and knockshe exploited it. Scoring oppertunities were missed our touch was poor and our decision making left a little to be desired.

However… Knockshe played really well and for them that has to be worring. We have huge scope to improve, they don’t. We have more natural ability than them, more youth and I hope more heart.

Tonight I noticed they were more cute in how they read the game and this was especially apparent with regard to breaks and dsitribution. All of which are minor “learnings with a young team” such as we have (for the most part)

These Knockshe boys are the big fish in junior A. A first team amongst second teams, we are well capable of reeling in this marlin.

Seven points is nothing in hurling and based on what i saw tonight, if we want to , we can beat these lads. We’ve done it before, we’ll do it again.
