Preparation and Expectation

Think of ALL the PREPARATION that has been done for many years and even decades, for those of us over age forty  to – all year-long – in EXPECTATION of the upcoming 25th day of December – Christmas Day.

People everywhere  are preparing their hearts, minds and homes for this special celebration  This special season of the year is called the time of ADVENT (which begins the 4th Sunday before Christmas through Christmas Eve Day) – the Traditional Christian Holiday to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and a time of looking forward to His second coming began in the fourth century, A.D.

Much like the African Holiday called Kwanzaa, Americans everywhere prepare holiday feasts, gifts, family gatherings and food,  music, singing, candles, ornaments and lights.  In Latin, the word Advent means, “a Coming.”  The weeks leading up to Christmas can be a wonderful time of repentance and expectation, as we celebrate the Lord’s first Advent in Bethlehem, and look anxiously forward to His second Advent when He returns in great glory.

He has come and He is coming again.  The gospel of Luke describes “the glory of the Lord” that shone around shepherds when the angel announced the Savior’s birth.  Like 2:9  The gospel of Luke also records Jesus’ promise that He will return “..with power and great glory.”  Luke 21:27

The two events canvas the purpose for which the Son of God came into the world.    God Bless you all this Holiday season and may your understanding of the true meaning and reason for the season be revealed.          Our Christmas Greeting and Prayer for You
