JOSS WHEDON Returns to MARVEL For CAPTAIN AMERICA

Before Joss Whedon directed Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, he wrote the X-Men comic book.

Whedon will reunite with artist John Cassaday for a new Captain America story according to ComicBook.com. Whedon’s story will appear in Captain America, Sam Wilson #7.  The book will include stories by the title’s current team, Nick Spencer and Daniel Acuca, Greg Rucka and Mike Perkins. The stories celebrate the legend and legacy of Captain America as part of the hero’s 75th anniversary.

Whedon and Cassaday united in 2004 for the launch of Astonishing X-Men. The epic run saw the return of Colossus, introduction of S.W.O.R.D., Abigail Brand, Armor, Blindfold and the Danger Room evolving into the robotic form known as Danger. Aspects of their first arc were used in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Cassaday was the artist on a Captain America limited series launched after the 9/11 attacks and later a Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America one-shot.

Captain America, Sam Wilson #7 arrives March 30th. The milestone issue is part of the return of Steve Rogers as the Star-Spangled Avenger. There will be two Captain America books.
