A friend’s baby son; 6 Mar 2014.
Light was from a bay window, with open blinds. His expression? He’s never seen anything like it in his life – tho whether that’s a reference to the gaping, hooded lens of the 105mm, or to me, is uncertain.
There is an another image from this session here.
D700 with 105mm Nikkor; 12,800 ISO; Dfine 2; Silver Efex Pro 2, starting at the Soft Orange preset.

Yes, he’s a stunner – and with a wonderfully humorous, calm and tolerant personality. I’m not really into babies – whereas my wife, of course, can’t get enough of them. But what really gets to me is when these little beings start to talk – that, for me, is when the real magic begins. Thanks for your thoughts, Julie! Adrian

The little guy I’m taking care of is not talking yet! Can’t wait for that moment to come!

Oh yes, the first word or two comes, and then – WOW! And of course many of the early words are mispronounced and mixed up, and that all adds immeasurably to the experience – it is one of the great moments of Life.

Thank you for your appreciation, Sonali, I’m pleased you like it. I have another to post when I can get around to it. I have an agreement with his mother that I’ll send any new images I make to her, to ask her permission to put them onto my blog. I hoping for more photo sessions with him. A

Good! But I must be honest and say that I doubt that I will get over to your g+ stream, my friend, because I find that blogging takes too much of my time these days, and I want to spend more time making images. I have reduced the number of blogs that I follow quite sharply, and I’m just about at a good balance between looking at blogs and making images. Therefore, at least at present, I’m not taking on anything else. I hope you won’t mind my honesty here. A

I don’t mind it at all. I expect it from you. And I can easily understand. I am also facing so much pressure now with so many things I have taken up !! But at the end of the day it gives me pleasure 🙂

Well, thank you, Sonali, I’m so glad you’re not offended. And the pleasure is what its all about, that makes it all worthwhile – but there’s no getting away from the fact that real, ongoing, committed blogging is quite a demanding and time consuming thing. You may have seen this too – a 72 year old American lady blogger wrote recently that she’s closed the Comments on her blog because she can no longer keep up with them – I love her blog, to me its unique and wonderful – and I felt a great sadness for her – but that’s the basic reality of what we’re doing. Thank you again for your understanding. Adrian

Ohh that is sad to know! Interaction is the main thing for blogging or social networking. I enjoy it immensely. Though it is more on g+ than on blog.

The effect of the light is amazing, by covering one side of the face then the other; it is like looking at tow different faces

I’m glad you like it, Robert! I really enjoy both using soft window sidelight like this – and processing the results with Silver Efex Pro 2! Gentle light, softness and blur are wonderful things. Thank you for your thoughts, man! Adrian

Thank you, Lisa! I love intermixing shots like this with my more graphic shots – and I love the opportunity to use SEP2 on shots like this too! Haha, and as you know, if I ratcheted up SEP’s Structure here, I’d end up with something out of Frankenstein! Looking forward to more of your pictures. Adrian

Thank you, my friend – I’m pleased with this. I think he was fascinated by the camera and its noise, and at crucial moments I made soft and often repeated noises – hisses, hums, clicks and so on – which provoke curiosity and fix attention; such tactics work with cats and cagebirds too. I have a feeling you’re revelling in your freedom …. A 😉
