Good Energy, the Chippenham-based green energy group, has been awarded top slot in consumer group Which?’s annual energy company satisfaction survey for the third year in a row.

The survey covers customers’ views on service, value for money, accuracy and clarity of bills, complaints and energy saving – and Good Energy scored a five-star rating in each category.

Good Energy achieved an overall customer score of 82%, putting it in joint first place with Gloucestershire-based Ecotricity.

Chief executive and founder Juliet Davenport OBE said: “We’re obviously over the moon with this news as it shows how consistent we’ve been at delivering good customer service having been top over the last three years. This is good news for us, but more importantly, for our customers.

“It is also great to see that we’re sharing first place with another independent green energy provider, demonstrating that it is possible to be small and still deliver green energy and an excellent customer experience.”

“She said one of the big reasons why customers were loathe to switch providers was that they thought all energy companies are the same. This survey proves that this isn’t necessarily the case,” she said.

“It also demonstrates the value of having real competition in the energy market and shows there’s a place for smaller players. It’s the smaller companies like us who are leading the way!”

But she said she is not complacent about customer service.

“We think we can do even better and we’ve a number of ideas that we’re implementing this year that we hope will help raise the stakes even higher. These include developing and improving our on-line customer service.

“It’s worth noting that while Good Energy is not the cheapest energy supplier, we’re by no means the most expensive. We’ve frozen our prices until the end of March and Which? has scored us as delivering great value for money.

“We match every unit of electricity we buy with 100% renewable electricity, and we reckon it takes the average customer no more the five minutes to switch to us. And we offer simple, easy to understand tariffs.

“Given our latest top rating from Which? we think these factors add up to a compelling reason to make 2014 the year to switch for good.”

Good Energy has more than 35,000 renewable electricity customers and 12,000-plus gas customers. It works with a community of 55,000 small and medium scale renewable electricity generators, and is the owner of Delabole wind farm, the UK’s first commercial wind farm.
