WHAM! You've Come a Long Way, Baby

I pass by this Virginia Slims ad in the window of Thanasi’s Market on 23rd/Valencia every day and smile to myself.  Finally, a cigarette for ME!  Gentlemen, you simply wouldn’t understand.

Anthropologists: what era is this ad from?  My guess is 1992.  No use replacing the ad with a new one, the ’90s are cool again.

Yah, totally one of my favorite things to see in the neighborhood. Hope they don’t take it down.

I love Virginia Slims, they have little breasts on them.

Oh you kids. Virginia Slims were introduced in the late ’60s and the sneakily evil marketing campaign equated freedom to smoke with women’s rights. Way to go, Big Tobacco!

    • Sure, we knew that part. But no waaaaaayyyy that woman’s magenta blazer is from the ’60s. Please revise your contribution. Tell us of women’s lib in the ’90s!!!
