A Look Out The Window Gives Some Perspective During Trying Times

Are you feeling a little low today? Are you unhappy about something, or feeling worried about some issue?

Wherever you are – whether you are at home, in your car, at work or in school, I invite you to take a look outside the window.

What do you see?

Chances are, you will observe that the sun still shines. The wind continues to blow. The trees sway and the birds chirp their songs.

The children carry on playing and laughing. Buses, cars and other motor vehicles rumble by.

As you watch, there are millions of people at work all over the world, carrying out thousands of different jobs – waiters, odd job laborers, teachers, policemen, firefighters, accountants, telemarketers, chefs, farmers, bus drivers, technicians, salesmen, nannies, etc; millions of others are in school; millions more at play; and there are millions of others fast asleep.

The Earth continues to rotate about its axis, and it carries on revolving around the Sun.

No matter how you treat yourself today, no matter how happy or unhappy you are feeling right now, and no matter how you decide to view life and the world, that fact remains – life goes on, and the world, populated by billions of human beings, continues to chug along.

Your state of mental and emotional health has virtually no bearing on most of the things going on in the world at this moment; similarly, the vast majority of the things going on in the world right now has little to no effect on your emotional and mental wellbeing.

Why do we often choose to make things difficult for ourselves, to make ourselves unhappy, and to even torture ourselves over the most insignificant of issues?

Life goes on, and the world carries on. Why not choose and decide to be happy, to have a more positive attitude, and to carry a brighter outlook towards life, right here, right now?
