The Scissor Sisters have revealed that they regret releasing the song ‘Fire With Fire’ as a single.
The group, who put out the track to trailer their third studio album Night Work, admitted that they made the wrong decision to release the song – which peaked on the UK singles chart at number 11.
Discussing their latest record, frontman Jake Shears told X Magazine: “Yeah, it was a slow burn. I think ‘Fire With Fire’ wasn’t the right single to release first. That’s the heartbreak about it – it’s something I always follow, always going with my instincts.
“Because, if you put something out when you’re following your instincts and it fails, it’s all on you. ‘Invisible Light’ should have been the first single.”
Asked whether he thinks the band are still relevant, he replied: “Absolutely. My goal with this band is to be our own unique special sound. I look at all my favourite bands, Daft Punk or Nine Inch Nails or Red Hot Chili Peppers, and you know, those bands are always going to be relevant because they’re their own creation.
“No-one else is ever going to be Scissor Sisters.”
The band are currently on their UK tour, and are due to play at the Glasgow SECC Arena this evening.
