Busted! Well, Almost.

The kids were supposed to be in bed. My son, Charlie, came downstairs and nearly caught us eating his Easter candy.  “Hey, what do you got in you mouf?” he said.

My husband slinked the bag of candy down between the chair and the couch as I handed him a blanket to cover it up with. Then our eyeballs darted to the colorful foil wrappers in plain sight on the coffee table as we worked together to create a diversion. “Charlie, look over there. A banana!” Charlie turned and I scooped up the wrappers. (Whew!)

But we had created so much excitement with our diversion, we had to give the kid a banana before he would go to bed.

Then we went back to eating his candy. Sometimes it’s great to be the grown-up.
