Monday Question – Which Fall Release Are You Most Excited About?

New perfumes abound year-round, but fall is often the time to think about something new.

So which of the scents released for this season catches your eye, or rather: nose?

What new launch are you most interested in?

Or have you already decided on a new addition to your collection?

question-mark

My Answer:

Unsurprisingly the perfume i am most excited about comes from Hermès. The twelfth Hermessence Cuir d’Ange has my name on it.

Another one I will definitely try is Knot, the second fragrance release from Bottega Veneta.

What do you crave this fall?

  1. Undina says:

I do not get too excited about new releases any more but there are several that I want to try:
    – new Amouage – don’t remember the name though, some limited distribution about which I recently recently on Perfume Posse;
    – By Kilian Intoxicated, Light My Fire & Smoke for the Soul – most perfumes from the brand do not work for me but I still want to try them.

I haven’t tried yet many of the perfumes released earlier this year (or even in 2013) so I have a lot of sniffing to do – if any of the samples find there way to me or I find my way to any stores that carry those newer perfumes.

  2. Sandra says:

As Undina said – Amouage Sunshine. It had me with the name. I also look forward to properly testing Hermes Cuir D’Ange.

  3. Lady Jane Grey says:

No idea ! I cannot follow the new releases anymore 😦
But I’d love to try Mandy Aftel’s Palimpsest.

  4. Asali says:

For once there’s actually several; the HdP opera collection, the two new maria lux perfumes, some from patou’s heritage collection, the coffee one by kilian (intoxication?), and I have a feeling there’s more… Wether I’ll get to try them is another matter entirely:-)

  5. Hey there Birgit,
I have Mandy Aftel’s Palimpsest, Naomi Goodsir Or du Serail, Bottega Veneta Knot and the Monegal Dubai Next To Me to try.
Mandy Aftel’s is NAUGHTY!! So fabulously animal and I did blush a little while wearing it at lunch, EXCELLENT stuff. The rest are on me soon.

  6. shylotus says:

Hi! I am eager to try Knot, too. When I hear the words Orange Blossom or Neroli, I drop everything and run towards it. After many reviews and comments about Palimpsest, especially Portia’s above, I have to try it!

  7. Alice says:

    Morning Birgit!
I’m interested to try the Hermes, and also to know what you think of it. I also keep meaning to try the Shay and Blue Salt Caramel, as I like the range but don’t yet own one, and this sounds fun. However I’m not (supposed to be) buying anything!

  8. annemariec says:

Cuir d’Ange for sure. I’d like to try Jo Malone ‘ s Wood Sage and Sea Salt but the brand isn’t sold where I live so I would have to purchase a sample. 😦 I’ve tried Knot but didn’t like it; best not to say why in case I spoil your anticipation. I’ve also tried Narciso, the new one from that brand, but disliked it too. Not doing too well am I? Oh well, I should save my pennies for a bottle, or at least a large decant, of the original Bottega Veneta, which I like a lot.

  9. ringthing says:

I’m a fan of the Imaginary Authors line and Yesterday Haze is great, both creamy and spicy. It’s a contender for a bottle purchase. Bottega Veneta has become one of the favorites in my collection but I haven’t cared much for it’s flankers; Tom Ford Velvet Orchid was disappointing, too. I like Chanel Coco Noir from last year? Two years ago? Anyway, I covet that gorgeous black bottle but in the end, I probably won’t buy a new bottle of anything. I’ve read nothing but raves for the new Hermes, enjoy 🙂

    • Alice says:

I have the Chanel Coco Noir, bought it last year and have just pulled it out again for autumn. I really like it, and have been surprised to read many rather disparaging comments on various boards (perhaps they were expecting something more dramatic?)
Anyway, nice that somebody else likes it too.
      Alice

    • Olfactoria says:

The Coco Noir bottle is gorgeous! The perfume? Not so much unfortunately.

  10. rickyrebarco says:

I was disappointed in Knot, too much sharp citrus, and the “Shay and Blue’s are not so great either- see Kafkaesque’s blog on tthem. I am definitely looking forward to the Hermessence, though. I’m also loving Aedes de Venustas 2014 fragrance Oiellet de Bengale.

  11. rickyrebarco says:

And, how could I forget? I will be getting Tauer’s Sotto la Luna, it’s a beauty. It seems to be a rather polarizing fragrance, though, people either love it or hate it. It starts off as a buttery cinnamony gourmand, but it has the “Tauerade” also and the gardenia flits in and out in the drydown. it’s not a super heavy in your face gardenia at all. So heavy gardenia lovers are disappointed, I think. But IMHO there are so many heavy gardenias out there, we don’t need another one, I love Andy’s new fragrance.

  12. Anka says:

I am looking forward to try the two new fragrances from Atelier Cologne: Blanche Immortelle and Santal Carmin. And I am very curious to test the new Hermessence, since Iris Ukiyoé is the only one I don’t like, I have high hopes for Cuir d’Ange.

  13. Vanessa says:

I am also curious about Sotto la Luna(!) and was keen to try JM Wood Sage and Sea Salt, but have caught up with it now. Am really behind the curve as to what is coming out, and routinely catch up with things way after the event. 😉 The Palimpsest fragrance also made me sit up, partly because it is a favourite word of mine!

    • Olfactoria says:

So what did you think about the JM?

Palimpsest is one of my favorite words too (and did you read the memoir of Gore Vidal by that name?), the perfume is complicated… and insofar quite fitting for its name.

      • Vanessa says:

I didn’t read the memoir of Gore Vidal, no, but what a great title…I thought Wood Sage & Sea Salt quite pleasant – not salty enough, and I don’t usually get on with sage / bay / basil in the JM line, but as herbal notes go, it was fairly restrained and not manly as such. Lacked a bit of bite perhaps – was hoping for more of a Fleurs de Sel. The caramel aspect was nice. All too fleeting would be another comment. But a thumbs up on the whole.

  14. Darilyn says:

Being a Guerlain lover, I am waiting to experience French Kiss. I have already contacted the
Las Vegas boutique to send me a sample upon arrival!

  15. So far nothing is really making me too interested, except maybe Palimpsest (that one seems to be getting a lot of attention-which is good). Narciso did not do much for me, and neither did French Kiss which I thought was a bit too sweet.

  16. I’m looking forward to trying the new Envoyage – Fiore de Bellagio as I won a sample of it! Also on the Chemist in the Bottle Blog Lucas mentioned that there were 2 new Hedonist’s coming out – a rose and an iris. I really liked the original perfume so am really interested to smell these but I’m not sure when they’re coming out.

  17. cookie queen says:

I look forward to the Cuir d’Ange and hope to try it in the next few days. No lemmings, nothing I want to really try. That said, things that come along are always interesting of course . I am more than satisfied with what I have. xxx

  18. lucasai says:

I look forward to trying Cuir Cuba Intense, the upcoming release from Parfums de Nicolai and also to spending more time with Memo French Leather.
I’m going to skip new Kilian trio (they all sound like they’re not for me)

  19. nemo says:

I feel like I am still playing some serious catch-up on perfumes, so I haven’t really thought TOO much about fall releases. The ones I have heard about that I especially want to try, though, include Andy Tauer’s Sotto la Luna and also Cuir d’Ange, of course 🙂

  20. Figuier says:

So I’m also behind the curve, massively. But if I get to a Hermes boutique I’d love to catch up a little and try both Epice Marine and Cuir d’Ange. Also the Coco Noir in extrait sounds lovely, and should be relatively easy to find. And I’m on the look-out for a cozy winter perfume…

  21. ladywinther says:

I am curious about the to new Hedonists, and would love to sniff the new Palimpsest, and that’s just about it. Feels like a relief not to have a long “to sniff”- list for once.

  22. Erika says:

Madame Gentiles new line, based on “flight of the bumblebee” with the scent of honey. I guess my favorite will be the on with fig , milk and honey Syconium is the name. I hope i can have soon some to test.

  23. Cybele says:

Cuir d’Ange and Narciso. Also very curious about L’Orpheline

  24. Michael says:

The two new Serges, Hermes Cuir d’Ange and Or du Serail are on my try list.
    I tested BV’s Knot recently. It’s a pleasant citrus-y thing.
