2010 Kooyong Estate Pinot Noir

kooyong estate pinotLoving the Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noirs from 2010 that have crossed my tasting bench. Fresh and vital fruit stuffing, complexity and structure seem to be common themes. This effort from Kooyong is a top example.

The cherry and bramble fruit palate is aided and abetted by smoky, sappy forest-like complexity assuring that a savoury character is ever-present. It sensually saturates the palate but it’s not over-extracted. Medium bodied with fine acidity that helps it glide through its line before serious and elegant tannins make their presence known. Stony minerality underlies the entire wine and sensitive use of large format oak offers as much in terms of texture as flavour. Asian spice on an enduring back-palate. What’s not to like? 94 Excellent

One Response to 2010 Kooyong Estate Pinot Noir

  1. We had the privilege of sharing this wine and others from Kooyong/PPE with attendees at Swirl Sniff Spit last year, thanks to the generosity of Sandro and Tess. It won many fans and this is a good reminder to grab a few more bottles.
