Hurrah. It’s not all about Q & A. Insight, hosted by Jenny Brockie will finally return for 2011 from next Tuesday.
The first forum discussion will tackle our weather.
In the wake of recent extreme weather events, Insight starts the season by looking at La Niña, the weather phenomenon causing havoc here and across the globe. The opposite of the El Niño cycle, which tends to bring dryer and often drought conditions to Australia, La Niña is caused by a cooling of waters in the Pacific Ocean.
The forum will include Australians affected by flooding or cyclone damage, plus climate experts, such as Scott Power from the Bureau of Meteorology, who will discuss why this La Niña event is so severe and what might be in store for the future. They will also examine whether global warming might be causing more extreme weather conditions, and what we can do to better manage climate variability in Australia.
In 2011, Insight will continue to provide a forum where everyone – from experts, to business leaders, to everyday Australians – can have their say on current issues, in a frank and fair debate.
It airs on SBS ONE every Tuesday at 7:30pm.
