Queensland music composer Christopher Elves has won a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition for Animalia.
Elves defeated The Oprah Winfrey Show, Sesame Street, The Backyardigans and The Wonder Pets.
“It’s the most bizarre thing to happen to you,” he told the Brisbane Times.
“It’s usually only the Americans that win.”
Elves has a passion for children’s television, completing the scores for G2G, a pre-teen animated TV series for the Nine Network as well as Graeme Base’s Animalia.
The Daytime Emmy Awards are separated from the high-profile Primetime awards, to screen in September. They are usually dominated by soap and talk shows, with programmes that air from 2pm to 6pm.
Elves is currently scoring the spin-off from Dr Who, K9.
