Bathurst 1000 2012: guide

Seven’s coverage of Bathurst 1000 takes place from October 5-7, celebrating 50 years of “The Great Race” with 72 in-car cameras for V8s.

There will be 22 hours of live coverage across 3 days, including for the first time a 2 hour Friday night prime-time programme live on 7mate.

 125 cameras in-car, on-track, in concrete kerbs and walls, in the air and in the pits for coverage of The Great Race: the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

 Including in-car cameras in other races across the weekend, Seven will have a total of 162 cameras at Mount Panorama.

 42 cameras on-track. 4 cameras in the pits. 1 helicopter camera. 1 „fly-cam‟ covering 450 metres of pit lane. 72 in-car cameras in 12 V8 Supercars and a further 37 in-car cameras in cars competing in other races across the 1000 weekend. 5 electronic field production cameras.

 36 kilometres of television production cable and fibre, enough to lap the circuit six times.

 On-screen information will see 3D CADCAM take viewers inside the cars and a computer-generated graphics system will track cars around the circuit.

 New host studio situated at Turn 1 with full view of the Pit Complex and start line for “The Great Race”.

 Tech Centre Garage is a full working display of a team set-up, including a full racing car from Supercheap Auto Racing, a drive train and a pit boom. Pit reporter Mark Larkham will be based there, and in his regular Dick Smith Tech Centre, to explain the inner workings of a V8 Supercar.

 Coverage being broadcast in over 140 countries across Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, the Middle East, throughout Asia, the United States, and across Europe and North Africa.

 Matthew White, Neil Crompton and Mark Skaife will anchor Seven‟s coverage along with Aaron Noonan in the commentary booth. Mark Beretta and Mark Larkham will follow the drama in the pits and Neil Kearney joins our Bathurst team for the first time to capture the colour and personalities involved in the 50th Year of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
