New York Fashion Week – Spring 2012 Hits

Spoke with a co-worker yesterday who was lucky enough to score tickets to four shows at New York’s Fashion Week and our little chat jolted me out of my “school daze” and back into some fashion fever!  Had to check it out online @ Elle.com and Vogue.com, and of course the official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week site.

Hard to jive all of the springy brights and whites (whites totally dominating across the board from what I can see…which I’m always into) when the weather literally just turned to fall here. Energizing, crisp, air and that filtered light that is so amazing, can’t wait to break out some of my sweaters and jackets that have been in summer hibernation.

Regardless, these beauties are worth waiting for, something to look forward to when the thaw finally arrives (meaning May up here in the Great White North).

Marc Jacobs – love the colors and neckline. Not the biggest fan of this styling, did she stick her finger in a socket?

Lela Rose – artistic and feminine. Love this, but am quite sure it would be an unflattering mid-calf length on me. Nonetheless, need to see it in the stores just because I know it will be even more stunning “live” when you can see the materials, etc.

Another Lela Rose stunner… so subtly flashy, is that possible? The fabric looks positively ethereal, I bet she feels like a princess gliding down the runway.

Breaking away from the dresses (I am a major dress fiend, just really like the ease and it can be glamorous or simple, feminine or tailored). But, transitioning to some edgier separates, these are from Richard Chai Love, totally into the printed top and the color combo!

Helmut Lang, you can do no wrong in my opinion. I never get tired of the interesting bias cuts, draping, and tech materials used. I would absolutely wear this whole look!  I have a LBD from Helmut Lang that never get tired of wearing because of its unique cut and clean lines. There’s a shop in town, Arafina, that has a solid selection of the line, no doubt I’ll be waiting in the wings come spring.

From Yigal Azrouël, another favorite designer. Love this crisp and tailored look, and though it is so clean it’s also got a cut and unique detailing that makes you take notice. Twin Cities peeps, look @ Grethen House in Edina for this hard-to-find designer.

I wouldn’t need a label to tell me whose these are: Diane von Furstenberg. She works magic with prints once again, and these looks would absolutely fit in at work (though with a cami or well-placed safety pin to keep that wrap closed a lot higher up on that first look!) 🙂

Lastly Marc by Marc Jacobs, a great sporty look for spring, color combo rocks!

FYI: Most of these are all from Elle.com’s Fashion Week pages.
