RAMALLAH, (PIC)– A Palestinian human rights group has warned of the possible Israeli use of force against the solidarity vessel Estelle to block its arrival to Gaza.
The Assembly for Palestinian Rights said in a press release on Sunday that activists on board the ship were contacted by the Finnish foreign ministry and informed of the Israeli threat. The boat is hoisting the flag of Finland.
It said that Israel told the ministry that if the boat crossed the 20 nautical miles limit off Gaza coast it would be stopped by force.
The assembly warned that the threat meant that the lives of those on board were in danger, bringing back to mind the tragic results of the Israeli navy attack on the Turkish Mavi Marmara ship.
The assembly called on all Arab, European and international parties concerned to pressure Israel into allowing Estelle safe passage to Gaza since it was carrying out a humanitarian mission and posed no threat to any party.
