IOA renews administrative detention of Manager of Health Work Committees Abu Ras for 3rd time

OCCUPIED JEUSALEM,(PIC)– The Israeli military court at the Ofer military detention center west of Ramallah renewed the administrative detention of Walid Abu Ras the Finance and Administration Manager for the Health Work Committees (HWC) for the third time running.

The military court at Ofer informed Abu Ras, detained since 2011, about its decision to renew his administrative detention for another three months, according to Tadamon Foundation for Human Rights, noting that he was sentenced for four months then renewed for another four months in administrative detention which was supposed to end on 22 July before the recent renewal decision for the third time and this time for three months.

The Health Work Committees (HWC) condemned the renewal decision against Abu Ras. HWC said, in a statement, that its Finance and Administration Manager is one of the Israeli administrative policy’s victims, adding that administrative detention policy is based on racist laws dating back to the British Mandate of Palestine which authorized the Israeli military leaders to arrest any Palestinian citizen without charge or trial and under the pretext of secret files which even his lawyer cannot look at.
