Military Court Postpones Decision on Striking Prisoner Hana Shalabi

WAFA MARCH 7 2012

RAMALLAH, March 7, 2012 (WAFA) – An Israeli military court Wednesday postponed a decision on an appeal by striking Palestinian prisoner Hana Shalabi against her four-month administrative detention order, according to Addameer advocacy group.

As a result, Shalabi said she will continue in her hunger strike started on February 16, the day she was rearrested following her release in October in the prisoners swap between Hamas and Israel.

Addameer lawyer Mahmoud Hassan noted that Shalabi appeared in the hearing to be very weak and was handled roughly by soldiers.

The military judge allowed only four of Shalabi’s lawyers to be present in the room and asked all others to leave.

After hearing the legal arguments of her defense team and the military prosecution, the judge requested that the prosecution consider revising its position before he made a decision. He stated that he would make his decision on Sunday or Monday.
