GAZA CITY (Ma’an) – Despite her chronic illness, an elderly Palestinian woman has decided to start a hunger strike to express solidarity with Khader Adnan, who has been on strike for 60 days.

Zakiyya Qudeih, 72, from Khazaa east of Kahn Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, started her hunger strike on Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. She will only take her medicine, but no food.

He son Nidhal told Ma’an that she had suffered some of the consequences of Israeli occupation as five of her sons were detained.

“Israeli forces used to detain one brother, then release another until they were all finally released. Thus, she was familiar with the pain Palestinian women face.”

Nidhal highlighted that his mother said she would continue with strike as long as she can.
