Shout protests outside the prisons, and in front of Israeli embassies world wide and demand their release

As Israeli military measures are escalating against Palestinian prisoners, moves are taking place in prisoners to resist the illegal Israel practices. A hunger strike has been staged across Israeli prisons which illegally keep thousands of Palestinian prisoners.
Today 4-10-2011 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons are on hunger strike for the 8th consecutive day in protest against being forced into isolation cells and being deprived of family visits. (English Follows)

“يستمر الربيع العربي لينتقل من بلد الى اخر، وليحط الان في سجون الاحتلال
الاسرائيلي، فأعادوا ترتيب صفوفهم ووحدوا كلمتهم من جديد ليعلنوا ان ثورتهم على ظلم الاحتلال قد بدأت وأن ربيعهم قد آن له ان يحل.

منع من الزيارات…. عزل في الزنازين.. حرمان من العلاج.. منع من اكمال التعليم.. هضم للحقوق.. اعتداء على الكرامات.. كل هذا وأكثر هو ما تمارسه الانظمه التي تدير سجون الاحتلال ضد اسرانا البواسل، فكان لا بد لهم من رفض كل هذا الظلم والبدء بمعركة جديدة من معارك الاضراب عن الطعام التي يلجأ لها الاسرى عادة لتحقيق مطالبهم، إذ يقوم الاسرى بالامتناع عن تناول الطعام ويمنعون ادخال وجبات الغذاء الى اقسام السجن.

لإضراب عن الطعام طالما أنه هو السلاح الأخير في أيدي هؤلاء الأسرى، ما
داموا يرون أنه الوسيلة الفعالة والأكثر تأثيرا لدى الآسرين، وأنه الأسلوب الذي يغيظ الاحتلال، فهم يعبرون فيه عن رأيهم، ويلفتون أنظار المجتمع الدولي إليهم، وبينوا أن هؤلاء المناضلين أصحاب قضية عادلة، والإضراب حق معترف به عالميًّا لفضح الجرائم وكشف الظلم الذي يقع عليهم، استخدام أسلوب الإضراب المفتوح عن الطعام إذا كانوا يتعرّضون لانتهاكات تطال حقوقهم الإنسانية طالما أن هذا الأسلوب هو الوحيد الذي يمكن أن يؤدي إلى نتيجة في هذا العصر، وحتى إذا لم يؤدِّ إلى نتيجة إيجابية بحقّ السجناء، فإنه يلفت نظر الرأي العام المحلّي والدولي إلى الممارسات غير الإنسانية بحقّ الاسرى.

ان المطلوب من الشعب الفلسطيني والشعوب العربية وكذلك الشعوب والدول التي تعرف قيمة الانسان والحرية ان تقف وقفة جدية وحقيقية امام هذا الملف المهم والحساس، الذي يتعلق بارواح آلاف الاسرى وأسرهم، وعلى وسائل الاعلام تفعيل قضيتهم وإبرازها بشكل قوي وملحوظ امام الرأي العام العالمي، وتوضيح الصورة الصحيحة والحقيقية لهؤلاء الاسرى وكشف زيف الاعلام

الاسرائيلي الذي يظهرهم على انهم مجرمين وارهابيين، فهؤلاء الاسرى اصحاب حق وحاملو رسالة الحرية لفلسطين، ومن حقهم أن يحيوا حياة العز والكرامة وأن يطبق عليهم القانون الدولي”

On 27 September 2011, Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons announced the start of a campaign of disobedience to protest an escalating series of punitive measures taken against them by the Israeli Prison Service (IPS) in recent months. The campaign is composed of several elements, including a hunger strike and refusal to cooperate with a number of IPS rules, such as wearing prison uniforms and participating in multiple daily roll calls. Further information can be found in the press release attached.

These actions have been announced following a speech given by Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu in which he stated that whilst captured IDF soldier Gilad Shalit remained incarcerated by militant groups in Gaza, tougher treatment would be imposed on Palestinian prisoners– a clear policy of collective punishment which has since resulted in the withdrawal of university education and the denial of basic rights such as family visits and access to adequate food in some of the prisons.

The Palestinian prisoners have made several key demands, some of which are listed below:

– End the abusive use of isolation;
– End restrictions on University education in the prisons;
– End the denial of books and newspapers;
– End the shackling to and from meetings with lawyers and family members;
– End the excessive use of fines as punishment;
– And ultimately end all forms of collective punishment, including the refusal of family visits, night searches of prisoners’ cells, and the denial of basic health treatment.

TAKE ACTION!

In response to these demands, we are calling on all activists and supporters of human rights and justice for the Palestinians to take action in solidarity with the hunger strikers. There are two important ways in which to take action:

– Organize a protest, silent vigil or similar public action outside the Israeli embassy in your country and highlight the demands of the political prisoners. Addameer can send you further information on particular prisoners who are engaged in the hunger strike to support your action.

– Write a letter to the Israeli Prime Minister expressing your concern for the hunger strikers and demanding an end to the arbitrary treatment of Palestinian prisoners. A template letter is attached.
