Revloc Dyna Ring

2/12/2014 Update:  I’m very glad I sold the Dyna Ring when I had a chance.  In the early stages of the KDX  – Rekluse EXP project, I was trying to get the thinner steel drive plates that Revloc used.  Couldn’t get them anywhere.   Revloc Australia wouldn’t answer emails.  If Barnett did supply parts to Revloc, they don’t anymore.  Current Dyna Ring owners should treat their auto clutches well because when parts wear out, that will be the end of it.

Update:  Sold the Dyna Ring when Revloc announced they were going to stop producing the clutches.  I didn’t want to have to stock up on parts that would sit on the shelf for a while and my biggest concern with keeping it was with the ring itself.  I wasn’t sure what the material was that is on both sides of the ring, but it certainly has to be a wear item.  Seems like once it is gone the ring would be unusable.  Sold it on eBay and lost about $50.

Too bad, the clutch was awesome in the woods.

I’ve been holding off on installing my Revloc Dyna Ring until I got one more ride in so I could change the tranny fluid at the same time.  Based on the ATF came out, I think I drained it at a good time.

The installation was straightforward.  Getting the Dyna Ring out of the box and ready to go.

I started soaking the new disks and Ring in fresh ATF before I pulled the clutch out.

I’ve found that using an adjustable wrench is the easiest way to move the clutch arm to release tension on the cable so you can pull the cable from the clutch lever.

There are two washers you need to keep track of, one is behind the clutch hub nut.

The other washer is behind the hub.

Everything is off.

I pulled all the clutch components off and cleaned them up with cleaner to get all the worn clutch material off.  Starting with clean components:

Once three fiber disks are in, the next steel plate has to have the flat (non-machined) side facing the Dyna Ring.

My Ring came with 3 screws/springs.  I wanted to try 2 first because I want the clutch to engage as quickly as possible.  After removing 2 screws and repositioning 1, the Ring is installed with the screws facing out.

The next steel plate needs to have the flat side facing the ring again, so you should see the machined side this time.

All the clutch plates are installed and the 1st washer is back on.

The hub is on and the 2nd washer is back in place.

The clutch nut is torqued to 65 ft/lbs and everything is buttoned back up.
