“I am relieved that the officer who was injured last night has been released from the hospital and is on his way to recovery. The complete disregard for the safety of the residents of New Bedford exhibited by those riding off-road vehicles last night is unacceptable.

We are working closely with the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office to pursue punishments for the perpetrators and I have asked the City Solicitor to research whether there are any new regulations the City may consider adopting to tamp down on the use of off-road vehicles on our streets. We will not let this type of conduct put our residents in danger or erode the quality of life of our neighborhoods.” – New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell.
