New Bedford to Host a Paper Shredding Day for Local Residents and Businesses

Shredded paper will be recycled.

The City of New Bedford, the Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District, and Doc Shredding Corp. are partnering for a paper shredding day in downtown New Bedford. The event will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon).

Businesses and residents of New Bedford and the surrounding communities are welcome. The paper shredding charge is $5 per box. Each box should weigh no more than 30 to 40 pounds.The shredding event will be held at the parking lot across from City Hall on the corner of William Street and North 6th Street (enter on William Street).

Participants are welcome to watch the destruction of up to two of their boxes of paper. For more than two boxes, shredding may occur off-site. Certificates of destruction are available, if needed. Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed, but please remove paper from folders and binders. Shredded paper will be recycled into new products such as paper towels.

In addition, the company will destroy old computer hard drives for a fee of $5.
