Day 21 – One of your favorite shows.

Ahhh…F.R.I.E.N.D.S! The #1 on my list of favorite TV show series! Being a nerd (rarely watching tv, just reading) and clueless about pop culture back in the days, my bestfriend and cousin, Arl, lent me her VCDs/DVDs with past episodes and seasons of the show. Arl told me I’d fall in love with F.R.I.E.N.D.S; and what do you know? After a few episodes from Season 1, I laughed my head off while slapping my knee and then I realized I’m falling for the humor the show presented.

Originally, it was Arl who was hooked on the series; but at some point within the last decade, tables have turned around. Suddenly, I was humming the show’s opening credits and blurting out lines from the show. I Google-d my ass off finding anything related to F.R.I.E.N.D.S – desktop wallpapers, transcripts, souvenirs, details on both the characters and the actors.

Why do I love F.R.I.E.N.D.S? I have 3 reasons:

1. The setting’s in New York.  And, if you’ve read my past posts, you know how much I love to go to NY! Now, I know that 90% of the filming happened on Warner Bros. Studio in California and there had been a lot of criticisms made for how the show did not capture the “real” New York (ex. apartment in Greenwich is too expensive for a couple of girls ‘trying to get by’); but F.R.I.E.N.D.S still opened my eyes and widened my knowledge of what’s in NY.

2. It made me realize that I need more quality time with my  family and friends. I love the F.R.I.E.N.D.S cast! The main producers of the show, Kevin Bright, David Crane, Martha Kauffman, did a terrific job of picking the right people for all the characters. I know it’s just a show but the rapport you could see on- and off-screen (I’m basing it on the behind-the-scenes and bloopers shots) is terrific. Each of the actors/actresses brought something quirky and lovable to their characters. The 6 of them together embodied the tight friendship that I’d love to have with my own friends until we all grow old and wrinkly together.

3. The humor! F.R.I.E.N.D.S is F-U-N-N-Y!!! I can’t count how many times this sitcom made me cry out of laughing too hard. And not did I only laugh with Chandler, Monica, Ross, Rachel, Joey & Phoebe; I’ve also whistled at hot firemen, played foosball, danced around a fountain, stuffed a turkey with my head, glimpsed at Rachel’s boobies and drank coffee with of them. I’ve watched all 10 seasons (each with 24 episods) for at least 10 times. Truth be told, it actually has gotten me through depression. So I really am grateful for having come across one of the great sitcoms of all time. 🙂

As you may have concluded, I have a veeery soft spot for F.R.I.E.N.D.S in my heart. 🙂 I wish I could have watched a live show. I bet the experience would be AWESOME! Oh well, maybe I’ll settle on yet another F.R.I.E.N.D.S marathon! Hopefully with the boyf, since he hasn’t watched it ever! 😀
