Appraisals

I started pursuing an education in Appraisal Studies in 2008. In 2009, I completed 15 units: 4 require courses (3 units each) plus a total of 3 elective units thereby receiving my certificate in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts from UC Irvine.

In the field, I have appraised 25 paintings to the satisfaction of my clients. In March 2010, I will continue my Fine and Decorative arts education at UC Irvine with a Connoisseurship. Study elements include Style, Design, Condition, Craft, and Provenance.

It is the story behind the objects that I find the most fascinating and why I am concentrating on the aesthetics of design. This story contained by every piece of fine and decorative art weaves through the fabric of history and I take pride in bringing to light this story to my clients.

In studying aesthetics, I have learned that it enhances your ability see what is in front of you. An appraisal is a structured argument that brings together the history, culture and standards of art which help define the value of an object.
