Panasonic Co. (Secaucus, N.J.)

Panasonic is a division of Japan’s Matsushita Electric that specializes in consumer electronics. The company has made several unsuccessful attempts at establishing itself in the computer business with systems for professional and home use. Most Panasonic models were sold in Japan under the National brand with few differences.

The company was a big supporters of the MSX movement. The CF-2700 was one of the more popular MSX models. Panasonic was one of the last MSX holdouts, producing an FS-A1 series of MSX 2 systems and later an MSX 2+ system.

In the mid-1980s, Panasonic saw moderate success with several systems aimed at the professional market.  Most notable were the transportable Sr. Partner Exec. Partner PCs. Reviewers gave the Sr. Partner good grades on value and PC compatibility. Examples are relatively easy to find today. The company also offered a PC AT-compatible Business Partner 286.
