Northern Peninsula Region, Newfoundland

The Northern Peninsula region is located in the north west of the island of Newfoundland, Canada. The region has a population of 13,140 (2006 census).

In 2009, the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Speech from the Throne committed the provincial government to exploring a new model of regional collaboration. The Northern Peninsula region was selected for study because of the breadth of regional partnerships and experience with collaboration, including NorPen, St. Anthony Basin Resources Inc, and Nordic Economic Development Corporation. Information gleaned from the Northern Peninsula region will be pertinent and informative in all regions of Newfoundland and Labrador.
