MIDDLESEX – Archie Guion Smith Jr., 48, of Urbanna died Saturday, Feb. 9, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Smith was a native of Wilmington, N.C., who had been an area resident for 47 years.
He had been employed by Newport News Shipbuilding since 1961. Mr. Smith was a 1965 graduate of Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn S. Smith; a daughter, Stephanie M. Smith of Lynchburg; and a sister, Sandra K. Platt of Jamaica.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News, by the Rev. Charles Cooper. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Riverside Regional Medical Center Hospice Program, 500 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News 23601.
