WALLACE R. SPENCER

HAMPTON – Wallace Ray Spencer, 62, a native of Fox Hill who retired as an electrician in 1993 after 12 years with R.H. Smith Electrical Contractor, died Tuesday, March 8.

Mr. Spencer was an employee of Peninsula Electric Co. for many years and a member of Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church. A Marine veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Lafayette Hunt Club, Lafayette Gun Club, James River Racing Pigeon Club, Tidewater Racing Pigeon Club and the National Rifle Association. He was an amateur radio operator.

Survived by his wife, Martha Joyner Spencer; a daughter, Rebecca Spencer Butler of Chester; two brothers, Robert L. Spencer and Walter R. Spencer of Hampton; and two grandchildren.

Visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home and at other times at the residence. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home by the Rev. George T. Insley Jr. Burial in Clark Cemetery.
